WANTED – Event Administrator/Manager
Hillside Outside Ltd, producers of award-winning events including TweedLove Bike Festival and Tour O The Borders, are looking for someone to join the team.
We’re looking for a skilled and intelligent administrator and organiser, with a flair for problem-solving, efficiency and the desire to make good things happen. Ideally you’ll have a passion for cycling, the bike industry, fun outdoor events, the Scottish Borders and Tweed Valley in particular.
You’ll need to be super-organised, energetic and self-motivated, with a cool head and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You’ll also have a desire to think of innovative ways to create the best event experiences we can deliver. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with an enthusiasm for working with sports, bike and outdoors-oriented customers and colleagues.
A high level of proficiency in Outlook, Word and Excel in a Mac-based office network is needed. Skills in Social Media, WordPress and Adobe CC very welcome.
You will also be happy to get your head round all kinds of event planning problems, and just as happy to get their hands dirty at the events too.
This is a full time role within a small team producing top quality outdoor/sports events, mostly with an emphasis on bikes and racing. Applicant must be practical and hard working, prepared to work both in an office environment and outside. Must also be flexible as hours during events are long, and generally at weekends.
Here are some of the attributes we’re looking for:
- Impeccable organisational and administrative abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Event/bike/relevant experience
- Local knowledge
- Confident, energetic, motivated, self-starting
- Friendly, pleasant demeanour – excellent people skills with business contacts and customers
- Team player but able to use initiative and self-manage
- An understanding of what’s needed to deliver world-class events
- Clean driving license
- Flexibility and commitment, cool head under pressure
The events industry can bring hard work, challenging hours and multi-tasking, but great job satisfaction and a lot of fun. This is a great career opportunity based in Peebles, with an exciting and fast-growing outdoor events company.
There is much scope for developing an interesting and rewarding professional career in a creative, fun and friendly environment. While this is a position in the bike/events sector – perhaps not known for the biggest salaries – some flexibility may be possible in hours or pay for the right person.
